A few days ago (Sunday night?) I upgraded the forum software, and over the past week have been working on some upgrades/additions to the forums. As mentioned in the chat room thread, the chat software has now been integrated into the forum software. This was the original goal of the software, but the integration previously failed. With it working now, I want to get a feel for if we should keep it registered members only or if we should leave it open to all, since registration is free anyway.
Next, if you look at the navbar on top (probably not on all style templates yet, but soon, for now check the default style) you'll see an Arcade link. This feature lets us play games here on the forum. For now there are only 5 games, I am working on getting hold of more for installation. If you take the high score in a game, you will have a trophy beside your name in the forums when you post.
I have added a feature that automatically posts a welcome thread in the "Introducing...." forum when a new member registers.
More upgrades are currently being worked on and configured, so you can expect mroe updates in the next few days.

Added a Radio player that can be launched directly from the Navbar. Clicking the vBRadio link on the navbar will open a player from which you can hear the station. Sound is not mp3PRO, but for those just popping in or just wanting to see what's playing, it's there and it works great.
Added Home Country option to profiles. Edit your profile, select your country and your nation's flag will appear underneath your avatar on your posts.
Still more upgrades to install, but that's enough for one night.

Due to a rather large upgrade coming up for the site which has ties to the forum, I'd like to ask that when you post a poll in any forum, please make the thread title and poll question match. I am editing all current polls to meet this criteria.

Yeah, the code to add them in was improved this upgrade, making them all a breeze to add-in now. Before it was a very large project. And now I have all my Star Wars smilies back!

Has it really been almost 2 years since I added in anything new to these forums?

I added in a Picture Gallery tonight. Users create their own galleries and add in their own pics, we can all view each others galleries. I already stepped in and created a few of my own. Get to it from the top menu, vBPicGallery.

Due to some further upgrades, the navbar at the top of the page will be reverting to its original layout, with no links to anything extraneous this evening. I'll hopefully have all of those extras replaced shortly afterwards, but it may take a few days.

I modified our forum template and the RR templates today to bring them a little more into looking like retro sites. Lemme know if you don't like them or they just aren't doing it for you.

Installed some more anti-spam features to help cut down on the few that have been getting through, and was amused by today's results. This new add-on keeps a log of attempted registrations that have been denied due to being a spammer. I installed it about 22 hours ago.
In that 22 hours, it has blocked 112 attempted spammer/spambot registrations so far.
