Don Imus is a complete and utter fuckwit and he has the freedom to say what he wants, but he should remember that the things you say may have bad consequences.
But I have a question, if Don Imus were African American and he said this, would there still be this controversy and people asking him to be fired? I wonder if it would be different.
I think he should be fired for what he said, because calling any woman a ho is a horrible thing to say.
Al Sharpton got Imus on his radio show and wanted him fired. That's about all I know. I don't usually pay attention to Al Sharpton.

I don't know why Imus just give up? People aren't going to forgive him for what he said. I know some think that what he said wasn't bad (I heard on a talk show someone saying that the Rutgers basketball team need to get thicker skins), but words can hurt.
Well, MSNBC pulled his radio show from their airwaves, so they won't be simulcasting it in the mornings anymore.

"The psychotic morons don't deserve him." - Rich, after A-Rod's GS
During an interview on "Today," shock jock Don Imus told Matt Lauer that he plans to make changes to his program when he returns to the air after his suspension for making racially insensitive remarks: "There ought to be a black person on this show every single day to add some perspective," Imus said today. "And we ought to have more black guests, and me and the rest of white America ought to understand what's going on in the black community, and I'll make an effort to do that."
Seriously, what black person in their right mind would want this job? We've SEEN how he treats people in his studio that he doesn't really want there, and we know he doesn't really want to add a black person. This person would just be begging for abuse, even if not verbally racist.
I WILL state, however, that this does bring up a very good issue showcasing the double-standards imposed on whites by the black community. Black people can call each other 'nigger' 24/7, but God forbid a white person use that word. They can refer to black women, their girlfriends, their wives as bitches and ho's, it's in the mainstream music for fuck's sake, but God help the white person who does, because he is then racist. If we're going to hold people to a standard, then we should hold ALL people to the same standard, not just certain groups based on their skin color. Isn't that being racist?
Imus wouldn't be on my shit list strictly because of this comment, as bad as it was, but rather because of his pattern of behaviour showing he is a bigoted, woman-hating cock-smoker. As far as I'm concerned, putting him on the air is akin to putting the Grand Dragon of the KKK in his own national radio morning show.

I was listening to Glenn Beck a couple days ago and he was basically talking about the double stadard that goes on. Whites can't say certain words that are okay in the African American community. I have however, heard some African Americans who think that those words shouldn't be used in their own community either.
I get nervous saying certain things because I don't want to be called a racist, because I am NOT. I think all races need to get along and get treated equally. There are just people in the races that have huge chips on their shoulders and don't want to be equal.

STFU honky
Kidding.
I agree with your assessment of the double standard. I guess you just gotta watch what you say until someone decides on a set general standard...
