Re: Imus in deep shit after on-air remark

Oh, good God, enough already. I can't STAND Imus but how long are people going to drag this out? This is why I have so little faith in America anymore. We have a government ass-banging our civil rights on a daily basis and nothing changes. We have countries all over the world ready to wipe us out given the chance and nothing changes. People are BROKE. People are STARVING. People are hurting. But some radio DJ that hasn't mattered since Howard Stern kicked his ass in the ratings many years ago says "nappy-headed hos" and it's Janet Jackson's nipple all over again!

Was he wrong to say it? Sure he was. But even though I despise Don Imus and all he stands for, I have to ask - how many times does a person have to apologize for something? How many asses does an offense like this require you to kiss? While I still think he's a jerk and what he did was wrong, how many times does he have to apologize for this? Should I demand militant rap groups start calling all the white people in the world and apologize for a line like this one?

Uh, who shot Biggie Smalls?
If we don't get them, they gonna get us all
I'm down for runnin' up on them crackers in they city hall

Man, screw racism. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of the whole concept of it. I say we just start adding stuff into the water until everyone's the same damn colour. That way we'll have to work harder to find something to hate people for, like religion. Wait. We have that already. Sexuality. No, wait, that's already done. I just hope I'm already dead before the entire planet finally implodes from people worrying more about exposed nipples, has-been racists, and how many people used Anna Nicole Smith as a fuckbucket before she went vapidly into the Great Beyond rather than what's really wrong all over the place.

^ Your statements above are the reasons why I support Imus' decision to "stop apologizing". I personally don't care anymore, but I figured I'd post the news link since I started the topic anyway.

Well, dumb and dumber (Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton) are involved, and they're not going to shut the fuck up about it until Imus is completely destroyed.

He's been destroyed for years. Like I said earlier, I didn't even know Imus still had a JOB until this happened. Why don't we drag Rodney King out again while we're at it?

And Rice, my long post wasn't really directed at you or anything. It was directed more at the whole situation in general. Sorry if you thought I was ranting at you personally. I no mean to teal down youl shitty warr.

Re: Imus in deep shit after on-air remark

I have a couple African American friends who have told me that they hate it when Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton speak out because my friends don't like them as spokesmen for all the African American community. My friends have told me they just love to hear themselves talk and my friends told me no wonder why a lot of whites are confused with what to say is because of people like Jesse and Al.

And that's fine. I just hope black people also realize that Don Imus isn't exactly the voice of all of us cracker ass crackers out here. Nor is George W. NoxiousWeed. Nor Michael Richards. Nor any of the Clintons. NOBODY IS.

No one represents an entire race, creed, or sexuality no matter how badly they think they do. You can't even say Dr. King was the voice of Black America in the 60's because a decent amount of people also found wisdom in Malcolm X. And let's face it - for a long time, that was about as polar opposite as you could get.

Jessica sent me this earlier today:

"It's a completely different scenario. (Rappers) are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports. We're talking about hoes that's in the 'hood that ain't doing shit, that's trying to get a nigga for his money. These are two separate things. First of all, we ain't no old-ass white men that sit up on MSNBC going hard on black girls. We are rappers that have these songs coming from our minds and our souls that are relevant to what we feel. I will not let them muthafuckas say we are in the same league as him. Kick him off the air forever."

This is apparently Snoop Dogg's reaction to Imus' comment. Does Snoop represent every rapper? I like Snoop. I enjoy his stuff overall. But I can guarantee you that every rapper does NOT use the word "ho" in the context Snoop is saying they do...including Snoop. Go listen to any album of his or even Dr. Dre's "Chronic 2000" and you tell me if he's being completely honest. He may BELIEVE that but...

You tryin to hide it from your husband but I know he be knowin
that your pussy's been tampered with
Then you show him the new trick of how you can lick it, smoke a cancer stick
You be workin it like a dancer bitch, it's hard on me
Not to give you all of my time, that you wanted
You can give me some head, but keep the breakfast in bed
I'd rather spend my mornin diggin through some records instead
But, tonight, I guess it'd be aight if we can touch bases

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg - "Fuck You"

Yeah, she's obviously just doing nothing and trying to get Snoop's money. Oh, wait. Sorry. He never says "ho". I must be getting a "bitch" and "ho" confused. My bad.

I remember an episode of "That 70's Show" where it was Red's birthday. Red went to dinner with his wife, the married couple next door, and the married couple's DATES (hey, it was the 70's!). And an argument ensued. Finally, Red raised his glass and said he was ready to make his birthday wish. Know what it was? "I wish everyone...would just SHUT THE HELL UP."

That's pretty much where I am on this one. Do we have to ask EVERY SINGLE CELEBRITY, black OR white, what they think? I wish everyone would just shut the hell up.

Now Imus has been fired from his CBS radio show. This I do not agree with. It's going overboard now. Sharpton and Jackson should be fucking ashamed.

I don't think Sharpton or Jackson give a shit really. They just want to let the white man suffer just like they did. Whatever, this is getting ridiculous really.

It's a bad thing for an old washed up white shoe to say "Nappy Headed Ho's" but you get these Black artists/DJ's Whatever using Terms like "Cracker", "Whitey", & "Honky" and nobody says shit! I Smell a Huge pile of "hypocritical bullshit" around!

That's MY 2 cents worth!

Re: Imus in deep shit after on-air remark

I was called a crakcer by this wacked out African American at a convenient store and it upset me, because I've never been called that before. She was totally wacked out and was screaming at people. She was threatening to call the police on the poor cashier (who was also African American) because she didn't pay her the right amount. I got up in line and the cashier told me that she had no right to call me that and she doesn't understand people like her. She (the African American cashier) was so kind and wonderful that I thanked her for being a calming voice.
I just don't get why cracker, whitey and other words like that aren't offensive like the "n" word? It's as hurtful as the words Imus used, IMHO.

Because we're supposed to be made to feel ashamed about our ancestors and whatever connection to slavery they had (if any). Hence the acceptance of using the words "cracker" and "whitey". To me, that's a load of bullshit (and yet another example of a double standard) because MY ANCESTORS did it, not me. So why should I have to deal with the aftermath of something that ended over 140 years ago?

I feel sympathy for what happened to the African Americans. They got a shitload of stuff thrown at them from the time they were dragged here up in to the present day. BUT....I despise the people who whine about how their ancestors were mistreated so we should all bow down and kiss their asses and give them money. Shit, if that were the case, the Indian tribes should be the first to have their asses kissed and money thrown at them.
