I got into a minor car accident last night

I got into a minor car accident last night. I had been having high blood sugar readings all day and been kinda "slow" reacting yesterday. I hit a car ahead of me when I couldn't stop in time. I was trying to move into the turning lane (I signaled) but this huge pick-up truck behind me whipped around me and passed by me just as I was starting to move over. So I pull my van back into the lane, but hit the car ahead of me when I was distracted by the truck passing me. Long story short. It was my first accident ever. Nobody was hurt. The guy ahead of me only got minor paint scratch on his bumper, I, on the other hand, broke my headlight and the plastic grill and bumper cover on my van. It looks worse then it is. Hubby changed the headlight out. I am still shook up about the whole thing. I need to make some changes in how I deal with my diabetes, as I am the only driver in the family. This was a severe wake-up call for me. Things could have been alot worse.

Today hubby noticed a small dripping leak in our radiator, so...that may need changed. The indicator doesn't say it's overheating, so I'm hoping that with some radiator stopleak will take care of it as a "for-now" fix.

When we talked to the kid I hit, he said it was the second accident he'd been in that day. I told him I might consider just going home after that. He didn't see that as too funny. Oh well.

Also today, my hubby's back is killing him, he practically screams in pain in some instances when he tries to move. Ibuprophen and Aleve work temporarily (sometimes), We can't get him in to see his doctor for three weeks, so we will probably be going in to the emergency room in a couple hours.

I can't seem to get ahead sometimes, ya know? I wonder what the hell I did to piss Karma off.

I hope everything works out and your hubby's okay. What is with the 3 week wait for the doctor? I can usually get in to see mine within about 48 hours. Has he considered a chiropractor? They always work for me....even if it's muscle related.

I'm glad you're okay.

And yes, our healthcare system blows. Didn't you ever hear that story of the lady that bled to death in the ER and nobody cared? They just mopped the floor around her to soak up the blood. Beautiful.

We ended up going to the ER this afternoon. They did x-rays and think he has a pulled tendon and a pulled muscle. They gave him all kinds of goodies. Makes him really spacy (and alot more quieter).

So, to make a long story short, he isn't in pain anymore, and pretty much said there isn't anything that can be done until at least 10 days, so we might as well just keep his dr. appointment to get it thoroughly looked at. At least he'll be able to sleep now. and I will too.

I make an incredibly bad nurse, although hubby says I'm a good one.
