Having watched CSI and fallen off the chair laughing at some of the (necessarily, I might add) oversimplified representations of how forensic tests take place, I suggest the people most getting away with murder are the makers of the show
Why don't they simply use the Spectrographic Analyser from the Batcave ? That served Adam West juuuust fine in the 60's
