The first Halloween remake (2007) I could give a pass to. It wasn't truly awful. I didn't care for the back-story of Michael because it wasn't needed. And I thought the language was rough. This from someone who swears a LOT. But overall it was OK. It was certainly nowhere near as good as the original, it never captured the tenseness of the original.
But this....
I didn't give a shit about ANY of the characters. None. I especially HATED Laurie. Loathed her. I was rooting for her to just fucking die, the sooner the better. She had NO endearing qualities at all, she had nothing sympathetic to make me WANT to see her live. Totally unsympathetic character. Whiny, pill-popping. And the mouth... fuck this, fuck that, fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. You think I'M bad, I've never heard ANYONE in real life use the word fuck so much. ALL of the characters did, including with their parents. Does this really happen places? Does Rob Zombie THINK this really happens commonly? SAILORS don't say 'fuck' this often. WHORES don't say 'fuck' this often.
Michael's choice of victims? Makes no sense whatsoever. How did he even get to some of these places, and WHY is he killing them? They're not in his way, they're not associated with Laurie, it's like Zombie threw most of them in just to have Michael killing someone in between shots of Laurie getting more whiny and irritating with each passing moment. And his 'visions' or reason for the whole thing? Garbage. Especially when Laurie was seeing the same damned thing. It was terrible. John Carpenter should be ashamed he allowed this mess.
Don't even get me started on Loomis. Zombie has turned this character, who made stopping Michael his entire purpose in life in the original series, into a scumbag from hell whose only interest in Michael Myers is turning a quick buck off his murder spree of the first film. Again, no endearing qualities whatsoever. Loomis' freaking AGENT garnered more sympathy from me. I hated the character. Utterly hated him.
And the ending? Fuck that. One of the worst endings I could imagine. What a piece of shit. If you want to know, I'll tell you.
Honestly, I could film myself taking a massive dump, call it "Halloween II" and have a better film than this.
Do yourself a favor. Avoid this. Most of you likely would have anyway, but if you're just a die-hard "Halloween" fan like me, you may feel drawn to it. Don't. Resist it. Save yourself the time and put the original "Halloween II" in. You'll be glad you did. Trust me.
