Hey. I've seen "Glitter". You're all amateurs.

And now I own a copy of the movie with John Stamos as a college gymnast superspy trying to stop Gene Simmons as the transsexual trying to hold the world hostage. "Surf's Up" ain't NOTHIN'.

Ohhhhhhhhh yeah. I'm totally psyched. I'd host a drunken bad movie night if anyone was close enough to bother. I have some masterpieces in my collection.

Re: Weekend Movie Review. What Did Ya See? How Was It?

We watched "Reign Over Me" last night.

I got tempted by this movie by the thought of Adam Sandler in a very serious role. Having seen him do some serious work in "Click" I felt he really had the chops to pull this off.

We weren't disappointed.

Moving story, great acting, well directed.

See it if you haven't.

I watched Valley Girl this week, about 24 years after the fact. Didn't like it that much.

Re: Weekend Movie Review. What Did Ya See? How Was It?

I just watched Zodiac last night. It would've been a lot better had it not been so disjointed. I loathed the time shifting (even though I understand the necessity of it to the storyline).

I mean, why even bother spending a few minutes of film time on nicknames? "Do you mind that they call you Shorty?" "Do you mind that they call you Retard?". It seemed totally unnecessary.

Re: Weekend Movie Review. What Did Ya See? How Was It?

We saw a movie called "In the shadow of the moon" tonight. It was totally awesome. All the astronauts that were involved with the space programs to the moon were interviewed (well...I guess I should say most, since Neil Armstrong didn't participate) but the rest of his crew from Apollo 11 gave interviews. It was awesome (I said that), but...like it was.

I didn't find it disjointed at all. But that's just me. I rather enjoyed the movie. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with the three-hour running time but it never really bored me.

Oh, and as for the nicknames thing, I think they were trying to show you how other people viewed Graysmith even when he started showing a real aptitude for the case. I think showing that other people thought very little of him when he was about to become a go-to guy on the Zodiac case was a way of garnering sympathy for the film's protagonist. But that's just me.

Yes, and I was there for the Glitter debacle. I was DRUNK and wasn't laughing. That had to be the most depressing "drunk" I've ever been through. It was much better when we were watching The Last Dragon.

You should come see this Stamos flick again. It's so much worse/better than you remember. I discover new fuck-ups and irrational actions every time I see it.

Re: Weekend Movie Review. What Did Ya See? How Was It?

We went and saw Bourne Ultimatum at the cheap-o movie theater tonight.
It had a good, fast-paced story, but I swear never to see another Paul Greengrass directed film EVER AGAIN. He is all jiggle-cam to the extreme (that's his style) and after tonight, I got halfway thru the movie and had to stop watching (and just listen) because he would not focus on one damn thing. Even when the characters were face-to-face having a static conversation, he's all jiggle this way and jiggle that way.

I have to admit, out of the two actors (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon), I'm really groovin on Matt Damon. He just really appeals to me. Plus he can really beat the snot out of somebody if he feels like it.

Re: Weekend Movie Review. What Did Ya See? How Was It?

I finally sat down and watched "Re-Animator" on Halloween night. I always enjoyed reading Lovecraft and thought I'd give this cult classic a spin. I'd heard good things even though the film was VERY VERY VERY loosely based on Lovecraft's story.

I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought. It had a great sense of humour and the effects weren't half-bad for a low-budget picture in 1985. On top of that, I am now definitely a Jeffrey Combs fan all the way down the line. I had already thoroughly enjoyed him as Milton Dammers in "The Frighteners" but this? This was just as over the top without all the hysterics. This guy makes fun every single time he's on-screen.

So if you can handle some pretty nasty gory bits in your movies and enjoy a good giggle as well, I say check it out. And if any of you have seen any of the sequels, I'd like to hear what you thought. If they're in the same vein as the first one, I'd love to see more.
