Weekend Movie Review. What Did Ya See? How Was It?
Saw "Rent", Thanksgiving night. Great movie. The critics have been bashing it, but I still enjoyed it. The first 30 minutes were kind of slow, but it picked up after. Jesse L. Martin who plays Tom Collins, stole the film. On friday, the kids went to see Harry Potter and the adults went to see Jarhead. Jarhead was a tough film. The acting was top notch and it held my interest from beginning to end. I highly recommend seeing Jarhead!

*snort* It's not just the gay storyline that intrigues me, but it's the performances by the entire cast that has me intrigued. Everyone predicts this and "Walk The Line" will sweep the Oscar's this year. only time will tell

I also saw Rent and I highly recommend it! Chris Columbus did a fabulous job! You thought the first 30 minutes were slow? I didn't. It grabbed me instantly. It got a bit slow after La Vie Boheme but it didn't take long to pick up again. I'm not one for seeing a movie in the theatre twice but I'm going again on Tuesday night! I loved this film. And yes, Jesse was amazing!!

I'm actually thinking of buying the cast recording. I loved every song performed during the film. I think I found it slow because I was too full from eating all day, LOL! Glad you enjoyed it too, Jon!

I've asked Santa for it I'm hoping she was listening I loved what they did with the music...rocked it up a bit and made it a bit heavier than the broadway cast recording...sounded awesome at the SilverCity theatre with the cranking surround!!

Not quite the weekend yet, but I rented "The Queen" from the library today. It is stellar. Helen Mirren is thoroughly convincing as Queen Elizabeth II. And she almost makes me feel sorry for the royal family for what they've dealt with through the years.

Re: Weekend Movie Review. What Did Ya See? How Was It?
I managed to get a hold of "Dreamgirls" and "Night At the Museum" this weekend.
"Night At the Museum" was fun. It is a rarity to find a family movie nowadays. I didn't think I would like it because it had Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in it. However, it made me laugh, especially the dinosaur and the Roman soldiers. Not sure how original it is, but it's refreshing to see a movie that isn't a remake.
"Dreamgirls". I'm not sure how to describe it. I know I enjoyed it, although I didn't think I would. It wasn't a great movie in the technical sense, but I have to hand it to the cast (including Beyonce, who I'm not fond of) for giving an awesome performance. And I LOVED the music, especially "Listen". I also saw a lot of comments on IMDb about Jennifer Hudson's "screaming". Considering the tone of the movie, she had to sing very powerfully and emotionally, so I thought it fit, but I could see how it might have busted an eardrum in the theaters.

I know I want to see Spidey 3 at some point but I feel like I'm going to be disappointed that I actually spent $$ on it.

Oh please, it's had great reviews. Methinks you expect entirely too much from your superhero movies. Learn to just sit back and enjoy the story. It was extremely well done.

This weekend, I'm panning on seeing Spiderman 3. I think the Spiderman franchise is one of the better of the superhero movies I've seen (my all time favorite is the Christopher Reeve Superman series, except the last one). I think it's going to be good.

Jessica, I saw "DreamGirls" finally last night. During the first 20-30 minutes, I thought, They can't possibly keep it this entertaining for 2 more hours. Well, they proved me wrong. I thought everyone did a fantastic job and it was definately Eddie Murphy's finest role yet. A fun ride!
I also watched "The Last House On The Left" (The original) and found it deeply disturbing.

I just saw Rocky Balboa. It was good.
