Corpse Bride
I bought this last night, and we all watched it.
I really enjoyed it. The songs and graphics were great..and the story was simple enough that my kids could understand...but it was great for adults too.

Re: Corpse Bride
We rented it last night, but I haven't watched it yet. It looks good though.

Re: Corpse Bride
I fancy watching that. I love most of what Tim Burton does.

Re: Corpse Bride
I'll be the dissenter. I'm not entirely certain I liked it.
Well, I DID like it. I figured out the "twist" and ending relatively early but that was OK with me. This is the type of movie where the journey is more interesting than the destination.
I think what ultimately made me enjoy it less is having to come face to face with my own mortality. As much as life drives me up the wall sometimes, it always seems like a better option than death. And even though the dead folks in the movie appear to be having one giant (80's reference!) Dead Man's Party, I'm not sure I like the concept of having bugs living in my head and TALKING TO ME.
Don't get me wrong. I certainly enjoyed the talent the movie had to offer. I loved Albert Finney as the Everglot patriarch. Richard E. Grant was also good as Lord Barkis (and I still get a kick out of watching Grant chew up scenery in "Warlock", "Hudson Hawk", and "L.A. Story"). Depp, Watson, Helena Bonham Carter...all did a fine job.
I think I need to see it again sometime when I'm in a more proper frame of mind, perhaps. In the meantime, I'll stick to Woody Allen's view on death - "I'm not afraid of death. I just don't want to be there when it happens."

As did I.
Since I completely blanked on giving you my opinion of this movie after I saw it, here is what I think: Twas good, but not as good as the previews made it out to be. I want to say I really enjoyed the last thirty minutes of it though (made me want to cry, in fact). Kind of makes you wonder if that is what would happen if the dead walked again....or would it be like "Night of the Living Dead"?
Good movie. Way better than the other shit movie I rented ("Flightplan").

Don't even get me started. That bored the hell out of me. Why can't Hollywood make a movie on a plane, KEEP it on the plane, and make it interesting? The only film that even came close was "Executive Decision". It's a guilty pleasure.

I wanted to see bloodshed. Damned joyous Hollywood endings.

We saw this at the dollar movie theater, it was good, but I still like other Tim Burton stuff better.
