Favourite fantasy film

For me, the 80s was about fantasy/sci-fi films. There are so many to choose from. If you could pick an ultimate fantasy/sci-fi movie from the 80s, which one would it be?

"Time Bandits". I love Terry Gilliam's stuff. I'd almost even say "Brazil" instead but it's just so...DARK.

I was tempted to watch Brazil before but missed it - looks intriguing.

My favourite fantasy is probably 'Neverending Story' but I'm sure that will change.

Re: Favourite fantasy film

I loved Willow and Legend. There are probably others I can't remember off-hand

Even though I liked some of the jokes in it, I didn't really care for Princess Bride as a whole, just my opinion (for what it's worth)

Star Wars. Empire Strikes Back. Return of the Jedi.

No brainer for me. The trilogy wins hands down. Just got done watching some Star Wars, actually.

Re: Favourite fantasy film

If Back To The Future is considered fantasy, that's my vote.

I watched Willow the other day, good film with lots of action. Who'd have thought it was created by Ron 'I haven't achieved excellence since Happy Days' Howard?

Haven't seen Legend but was put off because of criticism about Tom Cruise's performance. I saw the DVD cheap in Music Zone in the City Centre so I might take a look at it when I have the money.

The thing about Princess Bride is, although a great film, it is quite episodic so it does plod along at a very relaxed pace. If you are not prepared for it it will throw you.
