WHY WHY WHY? (Another Remake)
Jonathan Liebesman, director of the upcoming "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel, is in negotiations to direct the remake of horror classic "Friday the 13th" for New Line Cinema.
"Friday" made Jason, the unstoppable hockey mask-wearing killer, a 1980s horror icon, though the serial killer made only a brief appearance in the final frames of the first movie. Jason didn't even don the famous mask until the third movie.
Jason will wear the mask for the remake, written by Mark Wheaton, which will incorporate components of the franchise's films. The setting will be that of the first movie, Crystal Lake.
Liebesman is wrapping production on the untitled "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel, which, like the "Friday" remake, is produced by Platinum Dunes for New Line.
A Friday the 13th does fall in October this year, and there was speculation that the movie would be made quickly to capitalize on that. But Platinum Dunes and New Line already have scheduled the "Texas Chainsaw" prequel for release that month, on October 6. "Friday" will be a 2007 release.

Are you fucking serious? Dude, you can't mess with that incredibly hysterical horror classic. Jesus. It's as bad as when they started remaking all the "Living Dead" movies.

Re: WHY WHY WHY? (Another Remake)
It won't end. It'll never end. And people will probably continue to go see remakes.
One thing you have to understand is that younger crowds used to CGI galore and advanced FX technology won't see older movies most of the time. They'll dismiss it as "shit" and complain about how "fake" it looked because they don't take the time to remember that you had to do everything with a glue gun, some latex, and THE HAND OF GOD.
And I'll warn you now, boys and girls...with so many movies being "updated" for a new generation, one movie that will be ripe for the picking sooner or later is "The Exorcist". The irony here is that if someone does remake that movie, I'll be firmly convinced the Devil has already won.

Case in point, my 10 year old. "Mom, movies made when YOU were a kid wouldnt scare me. "
Which is why she couldnt sleep for 2 days after watching "The Thing" and REFUSED to watch "Evil Dead" after watching "Halloween" with me.
She has NEVER made a comment about old horror movies again.
Although I know Im gonna make NewRo call my house after we all watch "The Ring".

I can't say "seven days" in Japanese. Or Chinese. Whatever. GONG
A ten-year-old kid isn't gonna watch a subtitled movie. That's like a punishment to most kids. And if it's dubbed, they're gonna laugh the whole time. I would.
And bish, you ain't gonna MAKE me do anything.

Re: WHY WHY WHY? (Another Remake)
hehe. Word! I would rather have another F13 sequel instead of a remake. However, if it's anything like Jason X, then just leave it alone. This should NOT be remade.

Re: WHY WHY WHY? (Another Remake)
It just shows a lack of imagination in the movie world. Do you realise that not only will they remake the first one, they will probably remake the countless amount of sequels that went along with it, lol.
Friday the 13th was awful up until Part VI: 'Jason Lives' in 1986 - and was probably the best for me.

Looks like they are really lacking for ideas. This movie was awesome the first time around, so no amount of Queen Latifah or John Travolta is going to make me see this shit.
