Nu-metal...your thoughts?

Slipknot And Korn: Nu-Metal
Every traditional metalhead seems to hate this new kind of "metal"? But why so much hate? Is it the use of turntables that reminds us of "Hip-Hop" music and the "Rap" life style? Is it the remembrance of Linkin Park and "the fucked-up childhood lyric concept"? Your thoughts?

Re: Nu-metal...your thoughts?

I guess I'm not "traditional"...I like KoRn and Linkin Park just fine...Slipknot's okay. But yeah, the lyrics on most of those songs versus heavy metal/hair metal of the 80's...songs today seem to have a lot more negative lyric/connotation than way back then. Just my opinion.

Re: Nu-metal...your thoughts?

I'm not too familiar with Slipknot, but I also like Korn. Don't be surprised to hear some Korn played occasionally on Metal Shop. I don't have a lot of Korn to play but a few are there if I want to use them.

Re: Nu-metal...your thoughts?

Yo, first post over on this side of the web. How ya doin guys?

Anyhow -

Nu metal to me is pretty much the kind of friendly, less politically motivated music that Tipper Gore and the PMRC were looking for back in the day.

You're not gonna get a real statement out of any of the bands, but they'll put out some cool tracks that'll get you to bang your head.

Re: Nu-metal...your thoughts?

Nu-Metal irritates me basically by the lyrics. I'm tired of angst. I liked metal when the lyrics HAD no meaning, or the focus was on sex, drugs and rock 'n roll.

Re: Nu-metal...your thoughts?

Hmmm...Nu-metal bands like that suck....a lot.

At least there's nothing like emo-metal.....I could only imagine how much tighter the pants would get if there was such a thing as emo-metal.

Re: Nu-metal...your thoughts?

Bah. Bring back the guys in makeup and Day-Glo Spandex singing about parties and getting drunk and getting paid. It was FUN PARTY MUSIC.

These whiny vaginas need a hug and some arsenic these days. Learn to sing, too. I can't understand "GRRRRRRRRR! GROWLLLLLLLL ARRRRRRRRRRR AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA GRRRRRRRRRRR!"

Re: Nu-metal...your thoughts?

Sounds like you're talking about Underoath and the old Atreyu....they're not TOTALLY horrible. Sometimes you'd wanna hear something that has nothing but screaming.

Re: Nu-metal...your thoughts?

Type in "Metal" in Youtube and you get nothing but growly "death metal" throwbacks and Wannabes. To me, growling is NOT singing and never will be! Hate the shit then and now! I'd never play that crap on metal shop, even *I* have standards!
