Back in 1983, before my family had cable TV, Phoenix had a UHF channel (Channel 60) that played videos most of the day. The reception was crappy, but I recall the first videos ever watching were "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" by Eurythmics and "Electric Avenue" by Eddy Grant.
Man, you're asking me to recall ancient history at this point.
I believe the first music video I ever saw was "Mickey" by Toni Basil. She wasn't hot then and she still isn't hot. However, now that I'm older and (hopefully) wiser, I've noticed that they made sure every other cheerleader in the video was fatter than Toni Basil.
I wonder what happened to all those other girls from the video. That would be interesting to learn.
You can all laugh your asses off at me...but the FIRST time I ever saw MTV was after my mom and stepdad moved in together...one Friday after school, I turned on the brand new satellite dish and hit MTV. Because it was Oh So New to our family...
The first video I ever saw was "Love Bites" on a Leppard Bites weekend, and it started my Def Leppard obsession.

So the four singles prior to that did nothing for you, right? :P
One of the first music videos I can recall seeing was called "Can't Stand Still" by The Extras in 1984-85. It was (at the time) ground breaking, and became the second ever animated music video by a Canadian group (The first was 'A Routine Day' by Klaatu in 1979)
The song itself never became a big hit, but the video was quite popular ...
Oh geez, I think the very first music video I ever saw was "Morning Train (9 to 5) by Sheena Easton on America's Top 10.
I know the very first music video I ever saw on MTV was, it was "Games Without Frontiers" by Peter Gabriel. My family and I were visiting a family friend and they had this new cable channel that had all music videos called MTV. They also had it in "stereo" on their stereo.
I am really digging to remember this, but I honestly believe that the first video I can recall seeing was Toni Basil's "Mickey." I was at my cousin's house. But I can't remember the circumstances around us seeing it that afternoon, because they didn't have cable, and was afternoon, not Friday Night Videos.
