Covers and samples galore, oh my!

There's a bunch of them out there. Seems like a lot of the new music isn't original anymore. Here's a list of some of the ones I've heard lately that have been transformed to (more often than not) craptacular dance tunes:

Covers:
Crazy Frog - "Axel F" (GAH!!!)
Groove Coverage - "Poison" (Originally by Alice Cooper)
DHT - "Listen To Your Heart" (Originally by Roxette)
Suzanne Palmer - "Fascinated" (Originally by Company B)
Mandaryna - "Here I Go Again) (Cover of Whitesnake)
Dana Rayne - "Object Of My Desire" (Cover of Starpoint)
Inaya Day - "Nasty Girl" (Cover of Vanity 6)
Fannypack - "Nu Nu" (Cover of Lidell Townsell)

Samples:
Cabin Crew - "Waiting For A Star To Fall" (from Boy Meets Girl)
Mohito feat. Howard Jones - "Slip Away" (from "Like To Get To Know You Well")
Angel City - "Do You Know (I Go Crazy)" (basically Robert Miles' "Children" with lyrics)
Peter Presta feat. Bonse - "Totally Hooked" (sampling Boston)
Red Kult - "Miracle" (sampling Mike + The Mechanics)
Max Graham vs Yes - "Owner Of A Lonely Heart"

Thoughts? Recommendations? Post them here!

Re: Covers and samples galore, oh my!

OMFG. Considering the trend in musical sounds, I am glad I've never heard these covers, and never EVER plan to. I feel like part of my soul was just ripped out...

Don't get me started on that peice of pure rubbish!

Hopefully this will be the lowest point of music and it's all up-hill from here. (Because I can't think of much worse stuff that they would come out on the charts than a f*cking ringtone!)

Apparently you didn't have to deal with William Hung.

And hey! He did a crappy remake too!

Some good ones ...

"Tell Me Why" - Supermode (Sample of "Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat)
"Call on Me" - Eric Prydz (Sample of "Valerie" by Steve Winwood)
"Out of Touch" - Uniting Nations (Cover of the Hall and Oates tune)
"Fading Like A Flower" - Dancing DJs vs. Roxette

Re: Covers and samples galore, oh my!

One from 2005 that I have just stumbled upon ...

A Walk in the Park - The Conways featuring the Nick Straker Band
(Originally a Top 40 hit throughout Europe for the Nick Straker Band in 1979-1980)

YouTube:

I've loved the original for years, and i'd no idea it was remixed. Dang, it's so catchy
