Back when I actually had hair , I went through several different changes in my hairstyle in the 80's. Parted in the middle until 1986. In 1984 I had a rat tail. Grew out my hair in the back after that and got all mulletty until May 1986. Cut it short, then let the top and bangs grow out pretty much through the rest of the decade. I would shave the side of my head from time to time, back to mullet for a bit, then cut it short and spiked.
Mine varied by the year. Short for a while, long for a greater part of the 80's Stright, curly. Dark. Blond. Frosted. By '90 it had settled into a frosted, curled, long look like a mix between Joe Elliot's and Rick Savage's style. of course, I was much thinner then, too. I'd give anything to look like that again.

My mom kept cutting my hair into a mullet-like style for about 3 years. Then I let her perm it, which turned out bad because she missed a spot in the back and I had a chunk of straight hair amongst my frizzy perm curls. Then I cut it all off into one of those mushroom cuts. In 8th grade, I had the curled/teased/sprayed look that most everyone had.
I would show pictures, but it's much too embarrassing. :P
As much as my parents hated it...and I may add I'm also a member of the "I Wish I Still Had Hair" club....I had a shaggy/Mullet kinda combo...I looked like a ragmop back then LOL!
As far as I'm concerned, I got a decent trade-off from growing old. My body went to hell, but I still have more hair than I know what to do with on my head. I can still grow it out wild and wooly if I choose. But who wants to see a fat man with long metalhead hair? Ick.

You'd fit in pretty well in the Seattle area then. Lots of Overweight "metalheads" here! LOL!

Ugh. In the early 80's I had the bangs that started way back on my head, which soon morphed into the femullet. Later on I did the teased and sprayed look with wings on the sides. Granted, I was 10 at the time, (born in 78) but man I thought I was cool...
I did it all to my hair, I'm surprised I still have any. Considering what I did back then, I don't do ANYTHING to it now (not even cut it anymore)
Let's see, the list goes of things I did to my hair in the 80s:
Perm
then I brushed out the perm with a thick bristle brush (to try to get waves instead of tiny tight curls)
Sun-in hair lightener - EVERY summer
then I let that grow back in so in my Junior year I had DARK roots with nearly white ends. Blech
I wore my hair in lots of bows and ribbons and headbands in my hair (not all at the same time though)
I used hot rollers and curling irons
Also tried to get my bangs cut so that they would feather back.
Here is one of my senior year pics in 1987.
and I'm with you guys, back then (while I was still considered fat for a teenager, I sure as hell wouldn't mind being that skinny again.) Ah well, I guess that's life.

In the early 80s I had really long hair. Then when I was in 5th grade, my Mom took me to this hairdressers and she cut the long hair. Underneath the long hair was naturally curly hair, and I've had curly hair ever since.
