Song ending poll - What sort of ending do you like in songs ?

Inspired by Midas' choice of Toto's "Stranger In Town" as I was just listening to on Renegade Retro....

It made me wonder, and I had lots of time to do so, as the song faded out, and faded out, and faded out......

Do you prefer songs to fade out (a-la "Stranger In Town") or to have a definite ending (a-la "Big Time" by Peter Gabriel - just picking one off the top of my head ?

Re: Song ending poll

For me, I tend most towards "I like a definite ending"

Re: Song ending poll

I think it depends on the song.

Sherbet wouldn't be the same without their harmonising fade-outs

Re: Song ending poll

"I am Midas, or a clone of Midas, I prefer all songs to last 12 minutes - so the ending MUST be long ! (heh heh) "

The only time I prefer a song to be that long is if I'm working a gig and I have to go take a dump.

I didn't even get to hear that Toto song during the show as my PC decided to go take a dump at that time. So I requested it again after the show.

Just for that maybe I should start requesting the 15-minute long 1812 Overture on Renegade Retro. Why in the hell is THAT even on the freakin' playlist?

I honestly don't give a rat's ass how a song ends, so that's how I voted. However, echo fade is a cool effect.

Re: Song ending poll

Being a musician, I prefer songs to have a definite ending...being a musician from the 80's I love songs that, to quote Headpins' Brian "too loud" Macloed, are a "3 minute song with a 4 minute ending" ala Kingdom Come's "Get It On" or Headpins "People"

Re: Song ending poll

I don't give a rats ass . . . however, I love the song 'Layla' by Derek and the Dominos but the instrumental ending goes on way too long. Towards the end I was desperate for the next song.
