Fact...or Crap?
So I have this page a day calendar called Fact or Crap. Little random tidbits of trivia that are either true or false. I'll give you one each day and you can tell me which one it is. Point given for each correct answer. I have yet to think of a prize...oh well, I have a while.
First one:
Abraham Lincoln is the only U.S. president facing right on an American coin because he is the only one who was assaassinated.
So fact....or crap?
And Rice can't play.

I'll say it's crap AND give an explanation.
I'm not even entirely sure if Lincoln's the only one facing right but I DO know he's not the only President on a coin that was assassinated. John F. Kennedy's face graced (and still graces, as far as I know) the American fifty-cent piece. I seem to recall a little something about Kennedy being assassinated back in '63.

Re: Fact...or Crap?
You are all correct. The reason:
Lincoln is facing to the right because that was the direction he was facing in the photograph Victor David Brenner used to make his bas-relief for the penny.

Re: Fact...or Crap?
The answer is:
Fact. Chocolate liquor is the name given to the thick, viscous liquid made from ground "nibs"- the name for toasted, shelled, and cracked cocoa beans that have been carefully dried and fermented. Because of the deep brown color of chocolate liquor, it is never used to make white chocolate. White chocolate is essentially cocoa butter, sugar, and milk, with no cocoa bean solids.

Crap. Aethelwulf didn't even rule England until the 9th Century A.D.

Re: Fact...or Crap?
The answer is: Crap.
Though it was A.D. 496 when Pope Gelasius declared February 14 as St. Valentine's Day, it wasn't until the 1400s that Valentine messages were commonly sent in England. The oldest known Valentine in English was written in 1477 by Margery Brews in Norfolk to her fiance, John Paston. It is now housed in the British Library and begins: "Unto my right well-beloved Valentine John Paston, squire, be this bill delivered."

Re: Fact...or Crap?
The answer is: Crap.
The ABFE has only eight members, and there are only 63 forensic entomologists worldwide. By examining insects found at crime scenes-maggots, blowflies, beetles, and the like-a forensic entomologist determines such pertinent facts as time and location of death. The first documented use of forensic entomology was in 1235, when Sung Tz'u, a "death investigator" in China and author of a book entitled "The Washing Away of Wrongs", solved a slashing murder by asking all suspected villagers to present their scythes. Flies were attracted to one scythe, drawn by decaying tissue residue. The murderer immediately confessed.

Crap indeed. He wore the cabbage under there to stay cool, if I recall correctly.
