Although not as cool as NewRo's light show, it gives the room a small club/lounge feel
It's not all the fancy lights that make my broadcast area. It's the can of Spam on my desk. The lights are just to alert you to its presence. I think it looks pretty sharp as is. Your setup, I mean. Not my Spam.
Besides, all that means is that you're not a neon psycho like I am. And I'd add MORE if I had room. Can't lose my Spam!

Reason: Clarification

I'd do the same...I've even mentioned trying to mount the lights from the ceiling for some permanence...I could use a strobe, some laser-light and a fog machine...and a light board.
I've once again replaced the mixing board with one that should hopefully last, the Numark C3 USB. Toeringgurl and I were able to negotiate a deal with Guitar Center to get it for the price of the regular C3 (about $40 saved). Here's a spec pic of what replaced the shiny shiny Stanton mixer:
I need a longer USB cord so I can see how that works out vs using the zone output to the line in to the PC for broadcasting.
You can negotiate with Guitar Center? Hell, I need to go out there and play Priceline Negotiator and stuff. "I'll...give you...fifty bucks for.........that......shiny thing."
It's also interesting this thread got resurrected less than a week after I rearranged my whole "studio". I will get pictures up as soon as I get a few more details finished up. I'm just still working on the little things after taking a break due to the AGONY in my back and legs from working on the BIG things. I certainly knew how old I was after that.

Yeah, I had no idea. They will price match too. My deal was that they offered the regular C3 mixer on the website, but I didn't want to order online. They said they actually rather you purchase in the store. I didn't feel like shelling out $300 for another mixer, but I would have purchased the regular C3 at $259. It's the same mixer as their CM200 which came out about 6 years ago. It has all the features I want. My first Numark mixer was still good after 6 years - only had to replace the crossfader once or twice, and I was using it a lot more than I am now.
My mixing mancave is a mess at the moment but once I get it cleaned up and some more things on the wall I'll take some updated pics.
And only FIVE MONTHS after saying anything, the studio rearrangement is as complete as it's going to get for now. I promised pictures and I finally have them to share. And here...we...go...
Here's a nice wide shot that's gives you a look at nearly everything. As you can see, all my resources are now in one area. It makes life easier! My wonderful wife made the "skirt" that covers the front of the desk. Here's a closeup of the pattern for you:
See why I keep her?
As you can see, I've put up sleeves from old 45s that no longer have a record to house for decoration. You can also see a Frankenberry box to make TV9 cry a little.
Here's the new less-cluttered desktop so I have space for my laptop to talk to all my fine listeners while I'm on the air. Also check out my awesome Dr. Moreau lobster chair.
Here's a better shot of the various pictures, posters, album flats, and random nonsense that adorn my "studio".
And this is what it looks like when I'm live on the air when the picture is taken by someone who's never been that good with a camera. At least you have pictures of it in the light to compare. Oh, and the rope lighting responds to the music, too. Gotta love it.
And finally, a little something I cut from a McDonald's bag that I like to ask all my prey (and also like to occasionally tape to my crotch):
The only thing I'm getting new next week is a larger PC monitor as our hairstylist's (shaddap) husband is getting Sara a new tower for free from work as her current one is pretty much crap. I'm hoping in time he can score me one. I've just moved 15 GB of files to an external hard drive we bought a few months ago.
Frankenberry AND a Def Leppard "Hysteria" 45 sleeve.
Oh, and the setup beats the shit out of mine, too.
Yes, I do have that sleeve but that just means I have NO IDEA what happened to the 45 that was in there. That's because of the bowling alley jukebox it came from, not because of anything I did. I love my 45s.
And the Frankenberry box is empty but that's because we ate it all.
Finally purchased a long enough USB cord to hook up between the mixer and PC. Wasn't sure if it worked at first as the previous setup allowed me to play the sound from the mixer through my PC speakers. Tested it with the broadcast software and recording software and everything is good to go.

Well, It doesn't look like I'm getting the monitor, and I'm in need of one as I'm getting a horizontal line across the bottom of my current one. Maybe after the wedding.
This is going to be my next DJ equipment purchase:
The Numark CDN-450. Comes with these nifty features:
• Anti-Shock™ skip protection
• Real-time scratch and seamless looping on both decks for CD and MP3
• Displays text for ID3 tags and folder names for easy navigation
• Multifunction jog/shuttle wheels for search, pitch bend, and scratching
• Auto-BPM detection with tap override and display
• ±4, 8, and 16% pitch control for beat matching
• Housed in an all-metal chassis for rugged, reliable performance
• Single, continuous, relay, and programmable playback
• Fader Start automatically starts playback on crossfader move (with compatible mixer)
I'll be able to scratch on CDs like vinyl. It will be mine...oh yes, it will be mine.
