Glasshoppel been patient, ah so!
OK, so if you heard Friday night's show, you know that the FUSION Special Tribute show is inspired by a DJ and show that heavily influenced what I play and how I programmed/mixed music back in the early 90's. Here's the background:
In 1991 I moved to a suburb north of Dallas, TX. About the time we finally moved in to our house (August; I think one of the movers actually recommended it to me) I stumbled across
KDGE-FM, aka "The Edge" which at the time was at 94.5 on the FM dial. At the time The Edge was very hip to what was considered "alternative" music at that time. Cutting-edge and groundbreaking new tracks from artists such as Nirvana, The Farm, Pearl Jam, The Mock Turtles...hell, they even played Prince & The New Power Generation's "Thunder" from the then-new
Diamonds And Pearls album, and "Love & Happiness" by (at the time going by) John Mellencamp. At any rate, they played great music IMO. It wasn't until October '91 that I discovered that they had a mixshow, Edgeclub94 that was spun by
DJ Jeff K, and he was playing the latest in alternative and progressive dance music in the early hours of the show then the latest in the techno/rave movement later on in the evening.
I left Dallas mid-'92. Returned for Christmas break in December '93 and The Edge was still playing great music, although I thought it was kinda odd to wake up to Culture Beat's "Mr. Vain" on an alternative station.

Nevertheless, Edgeclub was still a hot show back then. DJ Merritt now spins on that show.
So the November 16 show (and either December 14 or 21; I haven't decided yet) will consist of a two-part tribute to Edgeclub. You can get an idea of what was played back then
here; all the playlists from 1991-1996 are archived there. I'll be playing a lot from the time *I* experienced Edgeclub; from 1991-1993. So check it out and enjoy!
