That's right! I thought today would be an appropriate day to spread the news.
After a year-plus of hiatus, a few months of discussion with TV9 and a move of Midasmix™ Studios, I am thrilled to announce that Retro Dance Party is returning to Renegade Retro in 2011! All your favorite 80s Top 40, Rock, R&B and Dance hits mixed beat-to-beat and back-to-back by yours truly.
That being said, there are a few minor changes for RDP:
1) The show is going to be a once-a-month feature on Saturdays at 10 PM Eastern on one of the Saturdays that is an off-week for ThunderVamp9's Request Show. This is due partly to my weekend schedules and to prevent burnout & further insanity on my part.
Mixing the show live almost weekly for nearly 5 years gave way to me playing out a lot of tracks as well as offering up show formats that were not encompassing of Renegade Retro's core format. Keeping the show to a monthly event will maintain the freshness and purity of content.
2) The first two hours of the show will focus predominantly on mainstream 80s tracks that 99% of listeners should recognize. At approximately 12:00 AM EST each show I will be presenting the Midnight Mix which will focus on more of 80s club tracks and remixes. Again, the majority of the material should be familiar to most listeners. Features during this hour may include themes (i.e. 80s Freestyle, New Wave, House remixes etc.) and possibly bringing in a guest DJ from time to time to spin/co-host.
3) Upcoming shows will be announced at least a week in advance if possible.
I've been continually collecting new mixes of 80s tracks and am excited to bring the energy-filled experience back to Renegade Retro! Pump it up!
