Looking for some songs

I'm working on my task for the station of getting every single song that ever charted in the Top 40 in the 80's, and am closing in on completing 1980. BUT...

I have narrowed down all the songs but 5. These 5 are all that remains for me to complete 1980. If you have them, or know where I can get them, please let me know:

I'M HAPPY THAT LOVE HAS FOUND YOU - Jimmy Hall
WE WERE MEANT TO BE LOVERS - Photoglo
KING OF THE HILL - Rick Pinette and Oak
SAVANNAH NIGHTS - Tom Johnston
YEARS - Wayne Newton

Re: Looking for some songs

Wow. Who'd have thought Wayne Newton would have made the top 40.

Sorry, never even heard of any of those songs/artists. I will keep an eye out for them though. Excellent job in procuring the rest of them though. Fantastic job, actually!

I sent a message to my old roommate who I think still DJs an 80s night in NC. Hoping he can help out.

I know, at least in 1980, right?

It's still only 1980 that's nearly complete. I still have 1981 through 1989 to go. Plus stuff I feel like adding from 1990-1992 or 3...

I may be able to get you the Photoglo, Jimmy Hall and Rick Pinette & Oak in the very near future if my friend comes through!

Re: Looking for some songs

Here is a link to a website that let's you save video and/or audio from youtube (plus I imagine any other online source) in MP4 (which I guess can be used on ipods and stuff, I don't know if you can use that format for your station or not.)

I use it to download my friend's performances in flash video format. You just have to have the URL of the source material.

I don't know if this is useful for you for THIS particular project, but it's a handy tool that I thought you guys would be interested in. Especially since it's free.

Re: Looking for some songs

I have a Firefox Add-on that does this, but my experience has shown me that audio from YouTube is usually sub-par for my needs. I may have to resort to it eventually, but I'm hoping I won't have to.

Re: Looking for some songs

I have now gone through 1981, and I am missing 1 single song from that year. No luck finding it anywhere, either.

Franke & the Knockouts - "You're My Girl"

I can (and have) gotten audio from youtube, but when I do, I convert it to MP3 and use Adobe Audition to bring the quality up.

Re: Looking for some songs

Managed to track down a vinyl rip of the Franke & the Knockouts tune today, although many thanks to Diofan for his efforts grabbing it from YouTube.

So, 1981 is completely done! I'll have all of the tracks from that year added soon, still have about 30 of them to add in.

The problem is, you can't actually bring the quality up. You may be able to brighten the highs a little, but it's like taking a 64K MP3 and re-ripping it to 128 or higher. Sure, it's now at 128K but if the source was 64K, then the end result is limited by that initial 64K rip. You can't add in what wasn't there because of the lower quality starting point. You can just try and enhance what IS there. But what was missing will still be missing. That's why I use YouTube rips as a last resort, if I just simply can not get the tune any other way.

True Nuff....I generally use Youtube as a very last resort too.

I've done sent you these via server. The Wayne Newton was a vinyl rip. Tried to take out pops and clicks as much as I could. I may be able to get you the Tom Johnston track soon.

I just uploaded the Tom Johnston track and a cleaner copy of the Wayne Newton track to the server. So I got you all five you needed from 1980. There's about 9 other tracks in me folder as well to add to the playlist.
