The influential hip hop/rap group
Run DMC is being sued for copyright infringement by
The Knack, which is known for such hits as “My Sharona”.
The lawsuit was filed last Friday by two of the members from The Knack, Doug Fieger and Berton Averre. These two claim that Run DMC stole parts of their 1979 hit “My Sharona”, including the famous guitar riff. Run DMC had allegedly used works from The Knack in their song “It’s Tricky” some twenty years ago.
The Knack is seeking compensation for all albums sold with “It’s Tricky” in the track listing from 1986.
