Re: World Series 2005

I think its our year.

But I said that last year, too. After that 18 inning game against the Braves last night, I really think that they got their shit together. I just dont see Chicago, or Anaheim grabbing that title.

And, pardon me, but WHEN did the Angels go to Anaheim? I must have missed that breaking news story.

Re: World Series 2005

This was The Angels first year in Anaheim.

I chose Anaheim just because we have their AAA team and it is like rooting for the home team. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing three of the four win. It had better not be the White Sox.

Re: World Series 2005

The Angels were pretty much always in the LA/Anaheim area. They were first the California Angels, then the Anaheim Angels, and now they are the LA Angels of Anaheim, if that makes sense.

I believe the Cardinals will win if their bullpen doesn't implode. The Angels are more consistent than the White Sox and I believe they will represent the AL, but since I hate the DH, go NL team, whoever it be.

Re: World Series 2005

I thought that Bagwell had been reduced to a pinch-hitter because his shoulder's still all fucked up.

Re: World Series 2005

StL won in fairly dominating fashion. That squeeze play was definitely cool. The monster home run by Burke was sweet too, but unfortunately not enough to rally.

The White Sox game was shit. The Sox committed so many baserunning errors, otherwise they might have won early. In the ninth inning, Pierzynski was the last chance before extra innings. He should have struck out on the 3-2 pitch but ran to first anyway. The Angels were ready to get off the field for the 10th inning, except the home plate umpire thought that despite the strikeout pitch, the ball hit the dirt before definitely being caught by the catcher. The replay was inconclusive, because the catcher definitely wraps his glove around the ball, but it was so low that it actually looked like it skimmed the dirt. The catcher threw the ball to the mound and the Angels were walking to the dugout, but Pierzynski was on first safe.

As you can imagine, pinch runner, stolen base, double, game to Sox. Suck.

Scioscia was definitely gracious in defeat, but also incredibly pissed about the call.
