I didn't think this day would ever arrive! My Canucks kick off the regular season tonight on the road in Detroit (and btw, it's Rock City NOT Hockeytown)...I have cable, PPV, the whole shebang....there's only 2 games my Canucks play all season that aren't on TV in some form or other...1 is early vs Nashville so really who cares and the other is late in the season vs San Jose and if it has playoff implications it will turn up on PPV I'm sure...
Off to see who got me points in my hockey pool last night I know Dany Heatley got me one for sure......

The shootout victory by Buffalo over Carolina last night sounded like a blast. The fans in Raleigh might be bandwagon fans but they sure know how to party and celebrate their team

What're your thoughts so far? I haven't really seen enough yet to say much although what I have seen is lacking in hitting...and there doesn't seem to be the rivalry's anymore...
I am first in my hockey pool though
My prediction: Anaheim wins the Stanley Cup...which makes me shudder because there's NOWAY I want the name "Mighty Ducks" on the blessed mug...

You say that every year, don't you? Hehehe. I think their recent playoff history makes the Mighty Ducks a serious contender but I don't think they'll win too soon.
I believe the lack of hitting is partly due to guys like Tie Domi retiring and mostly because of the new rules to reduce obstruction and interference.

Malkin and Crosby are really coming into their own...the Pens are looking good! On the other hand, have you seen what Wayne's team is doing this year? Not so much.....

Nobody cares about the Blackhawks, they haven't been good since my dad was born
I'm surprised that Carolina is sucking so much, but not as surprised that Atlanta is the hot team in the Southeast.

The days of the Broad Street Bullies are definitely gone I'm glad they got rid of Bobby Clarke but I think firing Hitchcock was a mistake...they need him to start turning this team around now that the big, dumb GM is gone...
