One of the things this new forum has is a FAQ section. Right now it's only the basic stuff that vBulletin puts in. We can expand this, and I will do that as we run into things people need info on. So post in this thread when you come across things you don't know how to do that aren't already covered in the FAQ.

Re: Faq

I noticed that the FAQ doesnt cover the reputation.

Click on the little scale icon under a members avatar, and you'll get a pop up box. From there, it asks you if you approve or disapprove of that members post. And there is a space for you to leave a comment.

The little green pips that you have under your avatar will increase/decrease with the increase in reputation that you recieve from other members. It works like the applaud/smite from the old board. With the exception that your numbers arent seen by anyone but you. And you cannot give yourself reputation.

No other member can see who gives who reputation. Only you can see it. To view your reputation, click the User CP link, and all your reputation comments should show there.

Hope this helps.

Re: Faq

There's info in the FAQ on how to create polls, but since this is new software to many of us (It took me a minute to figure out how to create one) I thought I'd post the quick info here. You can also find info on other functions of the board by typing in keywords to the FAQ search.

To create a poll when you post a new thread, simply click the 'Yes! post a poll' checkbox at the bottom of the page, and set the number of possible responses you want to include.

When you click the submit button, you will be taken to the poll creation page, where you can specify the question and the list of responses you want to include.

You may also want to specify a time limit for the poll, so that (for example) it only stays open for voting for a week.

Thumbs up Re: Faq - Polls

More info on polls :

To see who voted for what :

When viewing the poll results, click on the underlined number to the right of the coloured bar (any bar).

This will reveal who voted for which choice

(If the person who created the poll has allowed that option)

Re: Faq

What are the various thread display options? (Copied from the FAQ)

When viewing a thread, you will be able to view the thread from a choice of four modes.

1. Linear Mode (Oldest First) - In this mode, posts are displayed chronologically from oldest to newest. Posts are shown in a flat mode so that many posts can be viewed simultaneously.

2. Linear Mode (Newest First) - This is the same as the above mode, except that posts are ordered in an opposite way (newest first).

3. Threaded Mode - In this mode, a tree is shown along with every post. This tree allows you to see the relationship each post has to others, in terms of who responded to whom. Only one post is shown at a time.

4. Hybrid Mode - This mode is a mixture of the linear and threaded modes. The post tree is displayed like in the threaded mode, but multiple posts are displayed simultaneously like in the linear modes.
